So Saturday was really busy, which is not unusual but it just seemed a lot busier than normal. First, me, my fiancee and my son went to eat at Wheatfields Bakery and had what was quite possibly the best waffle we've ever had. Don't worry we also had sandwiches. After lunch, we drove down to Baldwin City for the Maple Leaf Festival which is a huge arts and crafts fair.
The main reason we went there was to ride the train. The Midland Railway offers excursion rides from Baldwin to Nowhere, Kansas. During regular runs, the train can take you to the ghost town of Norwood, Kansas or all the way down to Ottawa, Kansas. While at the depot, I bought a book on the history of Baldwin and surrounding area which I had been looking for since about 1997 or so. I was proud and have now read it about three times in the last 24 hours.
After the train, we looked around at some of the stuff, I bought a pink shirt for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and of course, got funnel cake. When we got home, we had to get ready for my fiancee's parent's housewarming party which was pretty good. It was a decent crowd and the food, although just simple snack-y type food, was delicious.
Then we came home and just lounged around for a couple hours before going to bed. Next week, we have a family thing of mine to go to which hopefully will be fun and not at all embarrassing.
