Kids can be exorbitantly cruel, Gladys. I am around children all day and they are mean to me, other adults, other kids, their friends, themselves. That's what he's getting away from, the children's nasty barbs. Crippling embarrassment I can handle.

Brutus could've made another bird friend. Remember when we got a strip of a
