What's ironic is that golf courses are notoriously bad for the Earth. Golf courses are constantly mowed so mowers are spewing pollutants into the air, they are constantly sprayed with herbicides and pesticides to kill weeds and every living thing that may live on the course. Not to mention that golf courses promote destroying nearby habitats by changing patterns in water runoff and erosion.
