Thursday Quickies

Two paramedics carry out a bleeding man on stretcher. Meanwhile, on stage, a group of actors are on standing around. The director talks to a big man holding a gun and standing next to a smaller man. "Thornapple here will play the role of Lord Covington, Stanley. We'll redo the shooting scene and this time, we'll make sure you use blanks this time."
March 11, 1966
You should've made sure in the first place, or not used a real gun at all, cuz even blanks could cause damage.

Is the original Lord Covington actor ok? I see he's dripping blood as he's being carried away...

Veeblefester and Brutus stand awkwardly close to each other with Veeblefester's arm on Brutus' shoulders. "The first time I met you, I thought there must be more to you than meets the eye," Veeblefester says. "Really, Chief? And what conclusion did you come to?" "That there's even less."
If my boss ever did this to me (the arm on the shoulder, not saying that I suck) I'd quit.

Read Said Fred

August 7, 1965
"We're gonna make you a star!" What is he the BEFORE of? Are they going to whip him?

No, you shouldn't.

I do like reading on my e-reader. As much as I enjoy a physical book, e-readers are much more convenient and I can carry them around everywhere. Plus, no one will have to know I'm reading Nabokov's Ada: A Family Chronicle for the 77th time.

Ode to Bradley

Um, Brutus have you never actually looked at Bradley Cooper? I mean, really looked at him?

He's handsome with long hair, short hair, stubble, clean-shaven, beard. He's also a good actor as evidenced in Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle. Bradley Cooper is everything you aren't and everything you can never be.

And Bill Fagerbakke As Wilberforce

I was just thinking, if Born Loser flashed forward several dozen years, Bill Fagerbakke could play Wilberforce in a movie or TV show. I mean if you really think about Bill Fagerbakke (Dauber on ABC's "Coach" and the voice of Patrick in "Sponge-
Bob Squarepants") could play an adult Wilberforce. It's just uncanny.

But then that would just diminish the credible acting talent Fagerbakke has and no one wants that.

Born Loser Casting Call

What if they made a Born Loser movie? Don't say they won't. Look at the other crap Hollywood has been producing lately. If Hollywood decided to option TBL as a movie, I hope they would use a lot of dark humor. And these actors. Danny DeVito would direct.

Bruce Willis may be an odd choice for the role of Brutus Thornapple but with Willis' recent hairstyle, he looks a lot more like Brutus plus it would lend a pretty decent name to the movie making the movie a lot more universal.

Kathy Bates is a good pick for Gladys Thornapple even though she's not as tall as Gladys is in the strip. She has the look and the appeal to look almost like Gladys so this is probably the best pick of the entire cast.

Jimmy "Jax" Pinchak is a name you might not know. He played Jody in the WB version of Family Affair with Gary Cole and Tim Curry. His cute looks and blond hair is a perfect fit for Wilberforce. Plus he's the same age as the next star...

Abigail Breslin who'll portray Hurricane Hattie. She has the look and the hair of Hattie and she can do dark humor perfectly so yet another good casting choice. I'm good at this.

John Larroquette I have casted as Rancid Veeblefester. I'm going for Larroquette's sardonic way of speaking, his humor and his gorgeous silver mane of evil to bring a new age of Dickensian caricature to Ol' Veeblefester.

Rhea Perlman as Lividea Veeblefester? Yes. I feel the contrast is great between her and Larroquette and I feel that a smart, attractive, well-to-do man, six-foot-four man being bossed around by dimunitive Perlman is hilarious.

And finally, Beatrice Arthur as Ramona Gargle, Gladys' mother. Arthur has proven herself time and time again as a wonderful actress and a good sport. And I can totally see her reeming Bruce Willis.

Think you can do better? Let me know. Obviously I only did this because I was bored. Lousy Internet.
