Wilberforce Gets an "F"

You'd think the guys would learn not to make fun of the Fat Broad. The snake, unfortunately, is just the victim of a hate crime.

Heathcliff has had a series of strokes in today's strip and soon Mr. Nutmeg has one which causes him to force his wife to bathe him and his cat in the backyard blaming their troubles on sand fleas.

Also, Dawn Warren has the most unique cat ever. A cat that hides and pounces on you? Someone give that cat a series.

At least he wants to go somewhere. I've seen comic strip husbands say they don't want to go anywhere and it's their way of saving money. At least Drabble here wants to go somewhere with his horrid shrew of a wife.

Sweaty pits or not, they'd still date her.

Ok. I will.
Yep, son. I got a pig when I married your mom. Unfortunately we can't kill and eat her because that would be murder and cannibalism.

Born Loser and a Random Article

Convergent Evolution
In evolutionary biology, convergent evolution is the process whereby organisms that are not monophyletic (not closely related) independently evolve similar traits as a result of having to adapt to ecological niches or similar environments

The Born Loser made the Featured Comic today. And of course it's a strip showing Brutus and Gladys fighting. About what we don't know. I sometimes want Brutus to just slap Gladys but that will just make her angry and we won't like her when she's angry.

No HD for the Thornapples

Make sure you've taken your LSD or ecstasy before reading the first comic today. When I first saw it I thought my house had a carbon monoxide leak or something.

I warned you. Leave it to The Better Half to make you question your sanity.

That is the most disturbing porno magazines ever. And I've seen some pretty disturbing magazines.

I wish I could change my radio stations...WITH MY MIND as she can apparently do. Her arms don't move. They are permanently attached to her torso.

ACK!! All those clothes make Cathy's hips look huge. She is almost as wide as the door she's walking out of.

Leroy has been turned into a Sim for the new Sim game which proves EA is running out of ideas as they are reduced to using past-their-prime comic strips as characters.

It's reasons like this as to why I don't like running a dishwasher. I'm always afraid it will blow up or flood the house. I know I'm just paranoid but it could happen.

Another sign that Aaron MacGruder is becoming the laziest cartoonist ever. I guess as long as the "Boondocks" TV series doesn't suffer I shouldn't complain.

Of course they watch Fox News. It's Fair and Balanced reporting is only second to the outstanding anchors they have such as Shepherd Smith, Bill O'Reilly and Greta Van Susteren.

Oop, I threw up a little.

Ruff's not Snoopy smart. Hell, he's not even Marmaduke smart.

I can't tell the difference between standard and high-def. High-def has sharper color but other than that I'll stick with my standard television. It does just fine, thank you. Who are you to judge me?!

Dracula In London

I recently finished listening to Bram Stoker's Dracula at work and it brought back memories of an old computer game I used to have. To put into context how old this game was, it ran on DOS. The game followed the book pretty good as you (or a group of people) controlled the main characters of Jonathan and Mina Harker, Dr. Seward, Professor Van Helsing, Arthur and Quincy. Everyday the team reads the newspaper to find evidence of the Count's presence and then you can go to the various houses the Count has placed the boxes of native dirt in (Carfax, Piccadilly).

The game actually does get suspenseful as Renfield or the Count can show up at anytime and each character can only move five times before the next player starts their move. I really the graphics as they are simple but you can tell what's going on in the scene.
As for weapons, each character can only carry two except for Mina who can only carry one (I usually gave her the garlic) so to a point she's the most worthless character but she's the one the Count is constantly attacking. I find it kind of odd that Renfield is represented by a huge white smiling head but I guess they needed something to represent him.

Looking back I think this was my favorite computer game and I played it a lot. I only got a happy ending a few times. A happy ending happens when you defeat the Count and everyone survives. Most everyone winds up happily married. Dr. Seward's weird because if you don't cure Renfield then Seward ends up being a workaholic and doesn't live happily ever after. I hate when Renfield dies because that usually marks that the game is about the end. One time, Renfield died within the first week of the game I was playing and the Count escaped. Man, I was pissed.

I went searching online to try to find a copy of it I could download that would work on Windows or something but the only version I found actually needed DOS. I also don't want to pay for it because it's not something I absolutely need. I just want to hold onto my childhood for as long as possible.

One of a Kind

A girl I had the hots for in junior high drew this is my sketch book. I've kept it after all these years and wonder what ever happened to her.

She was a really cool girl. Her dad was in Vietnam and was injured and has had several books of poetry published. I've heard a lot of rumors about her but don't know what's true or not. At least I'll always have this to remember her from.

Three New Stories

I got three new short stories uploaded. The full list of my short stories is included in the Short Stories link on the sidebar.

Rat Boy is the story of a quiet and ridiculed high school student who hold his math class hostage. I actually wrote this story about a week before Columbine so when that tragedy happened, I was sent to the principals and guidance counselor. Fun times. This was also one story that I let other people read and people really did like it and wanted their own copy. I was inspired by the story "Rage" by Stephen King (as Richard Bachman) and I originally turned Rat Boy into a four-part series where Jesse is killed, comes back to life and is abducted by aliens. I rewrote the first story and just ended it. Zombies just didn't fit the story.

The Narrative of Dennis Holcomb is your standard story of wanting to forget the one you loved who broke your heart. The story isn't as established as some of my other stories but I originally didn't know where I was really going with this story. I love the relationship flashbacks and the horrible pseudo-science about how the machine works. I made it almost believable.

Captain is the story of waiting in the waiting room while your girlfriend is getting an abortion. The title has nothing to do with the story but I didn't know what to call it. I wanted to make sure the story didn't side with pro-choice or pro-life factions but I wanted to show both side of the argument. I think I did a good job. What I find weird is that it took over 48 hours for Triond to publish this where it usually takes about 24.

The Incredible Shrinking Veeblefester

[Dennis the Menace for 10/02/2008]

Dennis is really talking about her big booty. Dennis is down with the plumpers.

Mmm...Me too.

Where'd the glasses, tie and briefcase come from?

So if you have a happy marriage you're a plugger? That makes me want to run out and get married.

Veeblefester is slowly wasting away. By the end of the week, Veeblefester will just be a dot in the corner of the last panel. But at least we may not have to look at that God awful yellow vest anymore.

And does the golf ball really need the KERPLOP sound effect?

Brutus Must've Told It Wrong

It's a new day. I'm taking more time to search for comics good and bad and let's face it, with the crappy economy, presidential campaigning and Sarah Palin overtaking most of the media, we all need some fun. One place where the effects of the real world never penetrate is the tiny town of Riverdale.

However, he is also your new social studies teacher because they are usually the same person.

I fail to see how this qualifies as menacing. I guess we could always hold out hope that Grampa has a Korean and/or Vietnam War flashback and beats the bejeezus out of the mailman.

Why would you not clean off the old refrigerator? Now those deliverymen know that Chip gets Cs, Trixie's obsessed with sitting next to a window and that the Flagston family has a strange prediliction with the comic strip Pluggers.

Because, Jeffy, if we let PJ roam free in the backyard "Dateline NBC" will be on the Keane Kompound like white on rice.

The person running away is only half the size of the robot. Only half the size. Just half it's size...

Let's all waste time telling bad jokes at work. What fun. And let's tell one to the CEO. I'm sure there will be no consequences.

Quick Quiz: What's older? The joke Brutus told or the joke of today's strip?

And We're Back

It is now nine days since I said I'd be back but I'm here now after some very hectic Internet issues but you don't want to hear about my problems, you want The Born Loser.

Gladys, No! The doctor said if you had one more piece of cake, he'd have to take your foot.

I haven't looked at a Born Loser in over a month so I missed out on when we got color added to the daily strips and I'm too lazy to check past strips. However, I see the detail in coloring is extraordinary. Daily Comic Strips In Color: Keeping Harvard Grads Employed Since 2003.

I'm not a fan of yellow cake but that cake does look pretty good. I also think that no matter how out of shape you are, your body could never look like that. I mean, her chest just turns into her abdomen. Is Chip just trying to show how out of shape Gladys is or does he just not know how to draw an overweight woman with actual woman features?

Answer: Probably a little of both.
