Welp, Gladys is dead.
I've often wondered if something could get stuck in the elevator and hoisted into the air. Elevators have two sets of doors, but only one set goes with the elevator. I guess stuff can get stuck but modern elevators have safeguards that are supposed stop the elevator if it senses something in the way. But this is pre-1970 so Gladys better start taking off that coat or dress or whatever or start praying it tears away.
