SaturDate Night
So does Mother Gargle also not like her grandchild or is she just gaming money out of Brutus and Gladys? I hope Mother Gargle knows that stealing money from Brutus is also stealing money from Gladys.

Sunday Is for Shopping

I don't have much hope in that though. Most politicians, especially Republicans, are not in government to actually help people and make the country a better place, but to enrich themselves, especially after seeing how easy it is with Trump as the president. Lindsay Graham was even an early opponent of Trump. I don't know what happened but seeing him brown-nose Trump over the last ten years has been disheartening and I hate that I can't tell if it's out of necessity, actual respect, or fear. That's how I feel about any politician who brown-noses Trump. Why are you doing this and no matter what the reason, it makes you a bad person and people are not going to care when you die.
Sure, maybe a bunch of randos on the Internet saying bad stuff about you after you die isn't high on your list of why you should be a good person, but why would you use this limited time on this planet--in this life--to be a terrible person? And again, it doesn't matter what your reasoning is, it still makes you a bad person. Anyway, former Capitol Police Officer Michael Fanone probably says it best "Rest in Piss" to both Graham and McConnell. They could've continued making the country a better place after 2016, but instead chose to make it worse for everybody for reasons we will now never know.
Gladys is looking forward to shopping with Brutus? Okay. It's bold of Brutus to still ask if he could not go shopping and play golf instead when Gladys responded so excitedly to them going.
What's Wilberforce going to do? Is he going to locked in his little cage or what? He certainly isn't going shopping with his parents.

And it continues today...
I don't know why Dot and Ditto have to make up an American Revolution battle when there are so many to choose from, but whatever. They're both wearing American Flag Blue so maybe this is a real battle that Big American History is trying to cover up because it was between two American soldiers and about something stupid.Saturday, May 23, 2026
Back In Black
Did they agree that Brutus shouldn't be wearing black sweaters? I mean, he normally looks like an amorphous blob anyway, but that black sweater is not doing him any favors. He also looks like a piece of licorice.
I think Veeblefester is allowing too much from Agnes. She must be part of a really good union or, honestly, she'd just use Veeblefester's hatred of Irish shanties as proof of discrimination.
*relieved exhale* Chip knows that 'dumb' has a 'b'.

Just a Man Waiting for Dinner

| June 10, 1967 |
We could spend a whole week doing a Looney Tunes-esque comic strip story of Brutus trying to shoot this wisecracking duck, but we won't. Be here tomorrow for some of Gladys' meat loaf.
Speaking of meat loaf...
You better be used to it. You've been married and eating her cooking for *mumbles random number* years.I like that we don't see Gladys reply. Gladys isn't there. She hasn't been for years. It's just Brutus in this void. Just Brutus.

Is that clock in the middle of the room?
Did we really need a visual interpretation of "tick tock"?
There wasn't a better gold color than "burning pee yellow"?

I'm also confused by the phrase "This one takes the rag off the bush" and the look of that administrative assistant. That definitely isn't Miss Preen.
What was Wilberforce doing during this time? Did he get any Asian fusion? Did Wilberforce even have a babysitter or was he just chained out in the backyard?

You Have a Question, You Ask the 8-Ball
Apologies for no post yesterday. Our little lady Katy had to go to the vet which ended up taking longer than we thought and, after getting dinner, eating, and such, I just wasn't up to doing a post.
"Saucy wench"? I don't know what's gotten into Brutus today, but I'm not a fan of losing out on that pie. Oh, well. Serves him right. It's a fake pie in a comic strip, I wouldn't have gotten a piece anyway.
I like the look of that sweater. Shame we probably will never see it again.
It's pretty ballsy of Brutus to constantly be asking the fortune teller for a better price or a discount. This is her job, Brutus! If you don't want to pay what she believes she is worth then you don't need to use her services. And that goes for all of you out there!
She is fine. Has a small growth in her throat restricting some airflow. Hopefully some antibiotics can get rid of it. She is usually pretty healthy so this is unlike her. But she is almost 18-years-old so the fact that she is pretty healthy is somewhat astounding.
Anyway, send good tidings to our sweet old lady and let's get on with today's post.

I looked at back comics thinking I have seen Brutus in a sleeveless sweater before. I couldn't find one, but I swear he has been seen in one. Is a sweater vest the same thing?
I do appreciate Mother Gargle's dedication to the bit.

"25 years of marriage, huh? That's a pretty long time. You know what else is also pretty long? What Brutus doesn't know won't hurt him, babe!"
And I'm assuming that's his wife sitting with him on the couch. Meanwhile, he's seated away from her and leering at Gladys. Poor thing. She seems like such a nice woman.

R 💘 L
Trump lied--I know, right? Donald Trump lying?--about the Insurrection Act today. He claimed it was invoked by nearly 50% of the presidents dozens of times. The Insurrection Act has only been invoked by 15 presidents (there's only been 45) and only 29 times. Trump claims President George H.W. Bush used the Insurrection Act 28 times. In reality, Bush 41 only invoked the Insurrection Act twice. Once to suppress looting in the Virgin Islands and, at the request of city and state leaders, during the Los Angeles riots after the Rodney King verdict.
"Rotten...Rotten...Rotten...both work and home. I hate you all."
Oh, well Happy *mumbles random numbers*th Anniversary, Veeblefester. Of course their marriage has lasted. Someone stands to lose a lot of money if they get divorced and neither Rancid or Lividea want to do that. They both have become accustomed to a certain lifestyle and can't go back to being one of the poors.
If you look at the list of invocations, the Insurrection Act is only used as a temporary solution taking roughly 24 hours. It's not something used to take control of a city and use as an excuse to stop elections. President Ulysses Grant used the Insurrection Act the most with 6 times. And most of those were white supremacist uprisings after the Civil War.
Anyway, I know that Trump is a moron and he's constantly lying and lies so much that he can't really keep them all straight, but doesn't anyone else find his lying tiring? This is easily findable information. Now, I can understand your average Trump supporter not knowing or understanding or knowing where to get the information that as a part of NATO, the United States is required to defend other NATO countries and they are required to help defend us, so making threats against Denmark/Greenland seems like bad politicking but this Insurrection Act stuff is just maddening. And I swear that sometimes he just brings up stuff like this as some form of gloating. "Hey, look what I know. I bet none of you have heard of this. I'm big brain man! I passed three cognitive tests."

Snow Blow
![]() |
| February 22, 1967 |
If only there was something that could've happened so Brutus wouldn't have to make up a lodge meeting and still go out and hang with his friends.
Dick Cavalli, who this strip gives apologies to, was the writer/artist on NEA's Morty Meekle which would become Winthrop. The strip would last from 1956 until 1994. Cavalli would pass away in 1997 at the age of 74. I am just assuming Cavalli would fake lodge meetings to get away from his wife, Helen.
Impressed that the sidewalks have already been cleared. Wherever they live is on it with snow removal, unlike every other place in the country.
