A Foobiverse Wedding

The wedding that no one really wants is finally here. From what I've read no one really likes Anthony because he's bland and has already failed at one marriage. No one likes Elizabeth because she strung those three guys along for way too long before ultimately deciding on the road constantly travelled. I'm sure the next week will be concluding the wedding (as there are no "I do"s in this installment) before ultimately learning that Grandpa Jim has really died but Paul and Iris just didn't want to ruin the wedding.

I'll keep you posted this week on the outcome of the Foobiverse Wedding.

Now 90% More Efficient

Now I know that's impossible because my fiancee uses those bulbs and she has had several blow out--it takes longer but they do burn out.

Save Me the Almonds

Yay, two times the Ripley's fun. I wanted to know who the most indebted country was only to discover it was...well, see below. But I did end up learning more about King Louis XVII although according to Wikipedia, King Louis may have been king but he did not actually "reign".

I often think the Ripley's people just search Wikipedia for their information or that when a reader submits something, they copy it from Wikipedia. Maybe I'm just giving Wikipedia too much credit because I do a blog about it.

If you want someone to remember you, why would you get them something edible? Why not a lamp or something homey like a cross-stitch picture?

Innuendo Thursday

Morrie automatically assumes everyone knows how to pronounce yarmulke but doesn't know the definition. Then he just goes to confuse people further by saying it's some mode of transportation.

Too much going on in this strip. And who is that caveman talking to?

Who greenlit a Pink Panther comic strip? They need to be fired.

I was expecting a really good racist joke but instead got a chuckle from seeing African-AmericanBerry so I guess it's win-win.

The Nancy Summertime Song (Just in time for Autumn)

What's this song in the tune to? Or is it a poem? I can't believe they wasted three days on this crap.

Ewwww.

I love cheap weenies too. Which is why I'm not allowed to go back to San Francisco.

Also, are the hot dogs really that cheap when you have to pay $30 or more to get tickets to the game? Plus the drive, cost of parking, etc...

Delegate This!

I don't take naps because I do wake up feeling more tired than when I fell asleep. And yes, no one ever feels sympathetic.

Please let her "Stop" be in reference to this sham of a wedding and not the annoying idiocy of the children in the limo.

I know Ziggy has a death wish and all but even someone who's suicidal shouldn't eat at a place where the chef has flies buzzing around him.

Yeah, Brutus. How dare Veeblefester take responsibility for what goes on in his company.

LeRoi Moore (1961-2008)

LeRoi Moore, saxophonist and founding Dave Matthews Band member has passed away due to complications from an ATV accident back in June.

Dave Matthews Band is my favorite band so I am deeply saddened by this. He was an amazing musician and good friend and he will be missed by friends, family and fans.

Copycat

I just wanted to know if other people think the same thing. Look at the picture of the wasp thing in Ripley's Believe It or Not:...Then look at the picture at the Wikipedia entry. Isn't it the same damn picture only slanted a little?

Microwave 2 to 3 Minutes

I've noticed that Marmaduke has better artwork and is featuring two names at the bottom (Paul and Brad Anderson) so yet another father-son "legacy strip" has come into fruition. May God have mercy on us all.

Yeah. Bird-anal sex is pretty frightening.

Why is Drabble yelling like that in panel two? In most cities, driving while talking on a cell phone is still legal and people do regardless. I'm done with Drabble. Please leave now.

Letters to the editor are horrible. In my opinion, if people actually take time to write a letter to a newspaper editor, they obviously have no life and spend all their time complaining about everything humans do no matter how insignificant.

I'll heat up my own frozen dinner, thank you. I don't need my wife around to operate the microwave. I can be a self-sufficent man if I want to be.

I'm Scared, Too

My name is Brian and I think I've been obsessing over the comic strip Jane's World too much lately.

Of course it's not my fault. Things like side-boobs are rarely inserted into the comics I normally read.

Believe it or not but I believe I've actually said something almost exactly along those lines at one point.

Brutus should know if his own wife is afraid of the water. Plus, I don't think a woman Gladys' size would even have a swimming suit because they would not go near the water all that much. Of course, I'm basing this on personal experience so maybe I'm a just a jerk.

Superman: The Man of Steel #4 (Oct. 1991)

Written by Louise Simonson; Pencilled by Jon Bogdanove; Inked by Dennis Janke
This cover just screams "Stay away". I have never liked Jon Bogdanove's art and I don't know how he stayed on the Superman comics for so long (1991-1998). This story starts out with another annoying villain, Parasite escaping--once again--from STAR Labs. Superman sufficiently defeats him within three pages then we get into a story with Lois Lane and pseudo-boyfriend Jeb Friedman (who thankfully would die in 1996 shortly before Lois ended her engagement with Clark).

Back to the awful villain: Joe Angstrom was apparently mutated in the Army under Sam Lane's command so of course he's out for revenge. What's worse than the cover is that Angstrom looks even worse in the book because he's decomposing from all the radioactivity. Superman defeats Angstrom and STAR Labs is able to save Angstrom and turn him back to normal (of course) and everything is peachy-keen.

Also, Lois challenges Clark to get a story on his own without using Superman. Don't worry...it's turns out okay.
